Piedmont Hospital';s Coronary Care Unit is excited and proud to be recognized by
AACN as a Beacon Award winning unit
We are the first and only unit in the state of Georgia to receive this honor. Our
eleven-bed Coronary Care unit provides quality patient and family care and supports
and encourages each other in the pursuit of excellence.
The journey to Beacon proved to be very uplifting. We looked at the requirements
and believed we already met many of the standards and should try for the award.
Two staff nurses, who would ultimately lead and motivate the staff in the application
process, took this to our manager who was very enthusiastic. She provided the support
and autonomy that our team needed to be successful. We gathered and analyzed loads
of data and had a Beacon Bandwagon kickoff and signing event for the Bold Voices
commitment.
This recognition is especially meaningful to our team since it reflects the quality
care that we provide on a daily basis and it includes, not only nurses, but the
involvement of all of the CCU staff members who work together as a team to provide
the level of care that is deserving of the Beacon award.
We would like to thank the hospital administration and cardiovascular services administration
for their support.
A very special thanks is given to Paula House, our manager, who is responsible for
developing our team into an autonomous staff that provides quality care.
