Essentials of Critical Care Orientation 2.0 is a comprehensive introduction to critical care nursing. It focuses on the fundamentals, providing the theoretical foundation necessary to care for critically ill patients.
Essentials of Critical Care Orientation was first released in 2002. Since then, significant advances in evidence-based practice, patient management standards, and best practice standards for e-learning courseware design, have occurred.
Since the original launch of ECCO in 2002, learners and learning administrators have given us valuable feedback about the content of ECCO and what improvements were needed. For the highly anticipated upgrade to ECCO 2.0, we responded to this feedback by including more interactivity, more case studies and more critical thinking exercises. In ECCO 2.0, nurses will find the content they have come to count on, as well as new content we believe makes it a more exceptional orientation program.
As many accrediting bodies have begun to focus on individual healthcare organizations, hospitals and healthcare providers are being held to one standard of practice. Our goal is to make ECCO a part of every new critical care nurse's orientation. ECCO is already in use in more than 700 hospitals in the United States and Canada.
ECCO 2.0 includes 10 learning modules, organized using a body systems approach. Modules are comprised of multiple lessons that provide in-depth, interactive content with rich graphics and illustrations that keep learners engaged. Each module addresses the anatomy and physiology of the body system, relevant diagnostic information, and the clinical presentation and management of common disorders for each of the body systems. ECCO provides a total of 69 hours of CNE credit.
The series begins with Introduction to Care of the Critically Ill and progresses right to the different body systems. It also includes a module on Basic Hemodynamic Monitoring and Multisystem Disorders. The module titles are as follows (Click on each title for a more in-depth description of each module's contents.)
