Purpose of the Evidence-Based Practice Resources Work Group (formerly called Research Work Group)

The Evidence-Based Practice Resources Work Group will encourage and support critical care nurses to engage in clinical inquiry. Promote research-based practice along the continuum of care that is collaborative and multidisciplinary. Promote a research vision and mission for the organization that is consistent with AACN's mission, goals, and values. The members of the group are selected for their ability to facilitate the identification, direction and distribution of resources related to the research priorities. The group provides input for AACN's research and research-based practice initiatives. They contribute to the review, evaluation and they make recommendations for education, practice and support resources related to all aspects of research development, implementation, and utilization.

Charges of the Evidence-Based Practice Resources Work Group

The EBPRWG is charged with the facilitation of identifying areas of clinical practice and research that will drive the publication of AACN Practice Alerts. Based on AACN's platforms of a) Excellence in critical care nursing practice is driven by the needs of the patients and their families, and b) Critical care work environments must be safe, healing, humane and respectful - to promote the creation of culture of inquiry, broad sharing and evidence based practice, their primary role is to identify potential practice alert topics. They will work to develop tools in order to analyze the effectiveness of the Practice Alerts to clinical practice.
