The Research Grant Review Panel reviews grant proposals, provides feedback to the submitter, and makes recommendations for funding based on the score received.
All panel work will be accomplished via review of hard copies of grant proposals. Score cards will either be sent electronically, via email or by use of AACN's Volunteer Discussion Database. Group correspondence will be sent via email.
Large grant submissions are received twice throughout the year, October 2007 & January 2008. Based on the number of grant submissions in each cycle, proposals will be assigned to team members to evaluate, score & provide feedback. The goal is to have no more than 5-6 grants per reviewer, however, the number of assigned grants will be based on the number of grant applications received.
Panel members will be expected to attend three conference calls. The first will be an opportunity for the panel to be oriented before the review process. Once the review process begins, one call will be scheduled in December 2007 & the other call in March 2008. During these conference calls grant recipients will be selected based on the highest score; which includes relevance to acute and critical care nursing and link to AACN's research priorities.
AACN staff will ensure to provide a diversity of expertise and perspective to each group.
Final volunteer selection announcements will be made by the beginning of October, 2007.
